Mired in their longest losing streak in almost five years, the Chicago Fire look to avoid matching a dubious club record when they host lowly Real Salt Lake on Sunday.
Chicago (3-4-1) lost 3-0 at New York on Thursday for its fourth straight loss, the team's worst losing streak since dropping four in a row from Aug. 24-Sept. 14, 2002. The Fire now look to avoid tying an MLS club record with five consecutive losses, set from April 8-May 2 of their inaugural 1998 season.
The Fire, who allowed a total of two goals while starting 3-0-1, have been outscored 11-3 during the skid to slip to fourth in the Eastern Conference. Chicago's last win was 1-0 at Houston on April 29.
"It's been a tough stretch for us, it's been a matter of not enough production up top and not enough plays being made to stop teams from scoring, and until we fix both ends it's going to be a struggle," Fire coach Dave Sarachan told the team's official Web site.

"I believe this team can do it, I still believe we have the quality. It just takes one good result to get you back on track."
Chris Rolfe, Chicago's leading scorer with four goals and three assists, is questionable for Sunday's game after missing the last two with a sprained ankle.
After playing four of their last five matches on the road, the Fire play their next three at home.
"I think the best thing after a tough loss is to get right back out there. Let's put it behind us and let's go out with a good attitude on Sunday and get a win at home," said forward Calen Carr, who scored Chicago's most recent goal in a 2-1 home loss to FC Dallas on May 17.
Facing Real Salt Lake (0-3-4) could be what Chicago needs to get on track. The Fire are 3-1 against the third-year franchise and 2-0 at home. Salt Lake, which beat Kansas City 2-1 in a U.S. Open Cup match last month, remains the lone winless club in MLS play.
This will be Real's first league game since trading leading scorer Jeff Cunningham to Toronto FC for two-time All-Star forward Alecko Eskandarian on Tuesday.
Cunningham led the team with three goals, while Eskandarian, who has 21 career MLS goals and won an MLS Cup with D.C. United in 2004, had one goal in six games with Toronto.
Freddy Adu scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick in Salt Lake's 2-1 loss at FC Dallas last Sunday in its most recent contest. Real fell to 0-1-2 since former MLS star Jason Kreis retired to replace John Ellinger as coach on May 3.
Salt Lake has gone winless in 11 straight MLS contests since beating FC Dallas 3-2 on Sept. 16.
"We're really frustrated now," midfielder Chris Klein told the team's official Web site. "We feel that we have the necessary tools to do very well. We've been in every game. We haven't gotten the results or gotten over that hump yet, but I truly feel that we're going to get over that hump."
The teams split the season series in 2006, with each winning a match at home.
