Roma To Break Bank For Mutu
Roma want to sign Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
The Romanian striker is widely regarded as one of the top support strikers in Serie A and he has scored seven goals in 14 league appearances this term.
The ‘Corriere’ claims that Roma are prepared to spend big money in order to sign Mutu, with his £15m price tag offering no problems.
The Giallorossi are certain to bring a forward to the club during the January transfer window as they currently have just Mirko Vucinic and the injury-plagued Francesco Totti as realistic options up-front.
It remains to be seen if Mutu would be willing to move to Roma, as he has repeatedly stated in the past how happy he is in Florence.
The 28-year-old signed for the Viola from Juventus in 2006 and has been a massive hit at the club, forming some fine partnerships with the likes of Luca Toni (now departed), Giampaolo Pazzini and Christian Vieri.(goal.com)

Mutu Is Spalletti’s Number One Target – Report
Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu is Roma boss Luciano Spalletti’s number one transfer target, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
Reports that the Giallorossi wanted to sign the Romanian appeared in the Italian press yesterday, and the ‘Corriere’ is now claiming that Spalletti will be handed a kitty of €15-20m in order to get his man.
Spalletti has repeatedly stated that he will not be making any acquisitions during the January transfer window, so any move for Mutu is unlikely to take place until the summer.
Roma are short of options in the centre forward positions as they currently have only Francesco Totti and Mirko Vucinic as realistic options.
Whether or not Mutu will be interested in a move to the Eternal City is debatable as he has repeatedly spoken of his happiness in Florence.
The Viola are looking strong in Serie A, although Mutu may be tempted to leave if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
One player who is virtually certain to be on the move in the summer is Roma winger Amantino Mancini.
The Brazilian’s contract runs out in 2009 and his sky-high wage demands have made a renewal impossible. French champions Lyon are the favourites for his signature, although Liverpool and Inter Milan are also said to be interested.(goal.com)
