Roma Eager To Renew Doni Contract
With the January transfer window coming up, Roma will most likely focus their attention on resolving a few contract issues rather than buying or selling players.

The January transfer window is almost upon us, but at Roma they are mostly thinking about resolving a few controversial situations regarding contract renewals for some of their players.
The first player whose situation will be discussed is goalkeeper Alexandre Doni, who is allegedly being followed by a number of big name clubs, particularly Milan. The player's current contract expires in 2009, and the club intend to keep the player for a longer period of time.
Also midfielder Daniele De Rossi's contract expires around the same time, but for him the contract extension will likely be a pure formality, considering that he is a home-grown player, like Francesco Totti. In fact, he will most probably become the first choice captain once Totti hangs up his boots.
The situation surrounding Brazilian winger Amantino Mancini, who is known to have a difficult relationship with coach Luciano Spalletti, is more complicated. His contract also expires in 2009, but for him an eventual switch to another club is almost more likely than staying at Roma.
There was no contact between the club and Gilmar Veloz, Mancini's agent, even during the Christmas days. Nevertheless, Veloz claimed last summer that the player's will was to stay at Roma.
In any case, it seems the Capital club will not be making any major purchases, or sales for that matter, in January.(goal.com)
