Totti Set To Sign New Roma Contract
AS Roma captain Francesco Totti is set to extend his contract at the club until 2012, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
The talismanic forward will sign an extension to his current deal, which runs until 2010, within the next few weeks.
Totti has expressed recently that he wishes to carry on playing for Roma until past his 35th birthday. By the time his new contract will run out in 2012 he will be a few months shy of 36.
Er Pupone currently earns €5.8m per year, however this wage will be lowered when he signs the new deal.
Totti made his Roma debut at the age of 16, way back in 1993. Almost 15 years later, he is now the club’s all-time record goalscorer and appearance-maker.
This season Totti has struggled with injury, which has forced him to miss seven Serie A matches, as well as a number of European ties.
However the 31-year-old has still hit the back of the net nine times in 10 league games, placing him third in the race for the Capocannoniere behind David Trezeguet and Julio Cruz.(goal.com)
