德尔内里要复仇!
Del Neri wants Roma revenge
Atalanta Coach Gigi Del Neri is confident his team can trip up former club Roma in Bergamo this afternoon.
“They are a great side, but we have proved this season that we can cause problems for any opponent. We need to take the initiative away from them and put them under pressure.”
The Orobici are flying high and looking for a UEFA Cup spot, while the Giallorossi are currently in second place.
It is a special match for Del Neri, who was on the Roma bench for a brief and tempestuous period in 2004-05.
“I was passing through in a transition year,” admitted the former Chievo and Porto boss.
“The team had lost some important players and the club was also in a period of transition. At that moment it was not possible to go for great objectives, at least certainly not the ones that had been bandied about.”
Del Neri was one of four tacticians in charge of the club that season, as Cesare Prandelli, Rudi Voller and Bruno Conti all passed through.
Luciano Spalletti has given Roma greater solidity and ambition now, including their passage to the second round of the Champions League, where they will meet Real Madrid next month.
Francesco Totti seems to have recovered from his recurring ankle injury to start at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.
“Francesco is one of the greats, both as a player and a man. He is the symbol of Roma.”
Atalanta must do without the suspended Cristiano Doni. The game is live on Five with coverage starting from 13.45.(channel4.com)
