葡萄牙球星克里斯蒂亚诺·罗纳尔多将会在周一进行一项手术，以治愈长期为他制造不少困扰的右脚踝。C罗将在荷兰首都阿姆斯特丹接受这项脚踝手术。

在代表葡萄牙国家队于2008年的欧洲杯上铩羽而归之后，为了享受其美好假期，这名曼联球星已经延迟为其脚踝进行手术的时间。但最终，还是接受必须通过进行手术来根治伤势的事实。

曼联方面希望C罗能够在不接受手术的情况下康复，但手术的根治却是唯一一个能医治葡萄牙人伤势的最好方法。

C罗在接受手术之后的漫长休养期将会给曼联的季前备战带来巨大打击，尤其是现在正处西甲豪门皇家马德里不断在公开表示他们对C罗感兴趣的敏感时期中。

C罗的养伤也给曼联主帅弗格森带来一项警告，那就是必须尽快在转会市场进行地毯式搜索，尽快收购一位新前锋的主要任务。

无论如何，C罗在手术之后必须要休养六周以上，这也意味着C罗只能在新赛季的英超开战一周后才能顺利复出。

C罗此次是在位于阿姆斯特丹的医疗中心接受手术。一位来自医疗中心的发言人确认葡萄牙人已经抵达该医疗中心并且预料会在周二就顺利出院。

“他可能会在今天(周一)早上进行手术，又或者可能在我们交谈时进行手术，我不太肯定。”他说。

“他是在昨天晚上抵达这里接受一项检查。明天，他就会被允许出院。”

Ronaldo Goes Under Knife
Cristiano Ronaldo will undergo surgery on his problematic right ankle on Monday.

The Manchester United ace is set to have the operation in Amsterdam in an attempt to cure an injury which has been causing him pain for some time.

The Portuguese superstar had initially delayed going under knife in order to go on holiday following his exploits at Euro 2008, but has accepted that it has now become a necessity.

United had hoped that the winger would be able to recover from the knock without the need for surgery, but have been given no further option.

The news that the 23-year-old will be sidelined throughout their pre-season preparations will come as a major blow to the club, especially as Real Madrid's interest in the player continues to linger on.

Having Ronaldo back in England, and back in the first-team fold, would have allowed Sir Alex Ferguson to delve deeper into the forward's motives this summer.

However, the procedure is expected to keep him out of action for up to six weeks, taking him through to a week before the start of the 2008/09 season.

A spokesman for the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, where the operation will take place, confirmed that Ronaldo had arrived at the hospital and that he would likely be allowed home on Tuesday.

"He should be operated on this morning (Monday) or maybe at the moment as we speak, I'm not sure exactly," Johan Kortenray told L'Equipe.

"He arrived here yesterday evening to be examined. He'll be able to return home tomorrow."
